The Waiting Game

It's been a week of waiting ~ its tired me out, I think.

1. Fidel has had to wait to open his birthday presents. He's still waiting for me to make a gumdrop cake ( I keep telling him its a Christmas only thing - but he wanted one sooooo much for his birthday, how could I say "NO!!!"). This weekend..... maybe.

2. I had to (still one test to do in a couple of weeks) test for my mandatory second language competencies. I have a certain level that I have to maintain for my current position. If I don't make the levels - back to school for me. So I've been anxiously waiting the results.

3. I hinted a few blogs back that I have a few opportunities on the go. One is a job that is now in the final throws of the competition process, that is government. I wrote the exam over a month ago and was totally surprised that I made it to the interview. I had that a couple of weeks ago. I'm now waiting to see if I am offered the position. I hope so -It'll be similar, yet very different from what I am doing now;it'll be a good opportunity to learn new skills. So far I am really impressed with the staff in this group; I'd really like to work with them.

4. I haven't said much, but Fidel has been home for a few months (pure joy !!!). He decided that he needed a break from school ( and we wanted to actually spend some time together) and he wasn't happy with the institution he was attending. So he decided to take the break and apply for a transfer into another med school. Well, shit happens and because of a bunch of administrative stuff that is pure crap, answers we are now waiting for could have easily been given to us 3 months ago.

All that being said, he had a phone interview with the school on Thursday and we hope to hear if he'll be accepted, by the Wednesday coming.

If its positive, we have a lot of butt moving to get him there in the next 10 to 14 days.

Of all the waiting - this decision is the most crucial in that it will have the biggest impact on our life path at this point.

Work has been hectic. Lots of things on the go, but closest is that I'm busy planning our building's NAOSH week events. I've volunteered to be the mascot for a day and have a brilliant idea for the costume.

The BBQ is out, here at the building... WOOHOOO !!!! Guess who is going to be BBQing to his heart's content? We had fabulous steaks last night. Maybe chicken tomorrow night. Tonight we ate at a local Korean restaurant, which we love, because we needed our weekly fix.
