Yesterday it was one of those "stay at home" days; we had that big snow storm. It started Friday night, took a bit of a rest yesterday morning, but then hit with a vengeance around noon.
Its pretty well over, except for some strong winds.
However, this morning I am contending with a lack of sleep - an hour to be precise. We had to set our clocks forward an hour last night...
3 WEEKS EARLIER THAN NORMAL !!!
Anyhow... I digress.
Because of the weather, I deemed yesterday be "do your taxes day".
Ever since I was 17, I've been doing my own taxes via paper (good for the brain sort of exercise) and mailing the return in. A few years ago, Telefile was introduced, so while I still did my taxes handraulically, I could file the return via the telephone (yippy !!!! except that it took an hour to punch in your return).
Last year, my taxes were slightly more difficult in that I had started working in non-Paradise, although still living in Paradise. So deductions were (and still are) a bit buggered.
I did the paper calculations, but wasn't sure I had the right numbers. So for the first time, I used an on-line tax calculator (its approved by Big Brother for calculating your taxes and submitting them electronically) to verify my numbers.
This calculator was sooo easy to use - it took the "Stupid" out of "Idiot". And yes, my own calculations matched (reliable and verifiable). I was in love!!!
Yesterday, I still went through the paper exercise (because I love to torture my brain), but didn't care if I had done the calculations right; I knew I had my "friend".

Ain't technology grand !
