The Nearest Book Meme - from Fat Doctor Blog

I saw this on Fat Doctor and think it an excellent way to get back into blogging, and it will be interesting to see where the thread goes. Should be interesting to see what is in peoples' libraries

So here are the rules :

1. Grab the nearest book.

2. Open the book to page 123.

3. Find the fifth sentence.

4. Post the text of the next four sentences on your blog, along with these instructions.

5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest!

I cheated a bit as I have my computer in the kitchen & I don't think partial recipes would be quite as fun. However I do collect interesting books. Below is my contribution - would love to see if anyone knows where it might come from...

yeesssss.. I am trawling for comments.

The lead is of 1 1/8 inch, and is 25 fathoms in length; it is bent to the lead by running a long eye splice made at the end of the line, through the hide becket on the head of the lead, and then passing the lead through the eye.

The lead line is marked as follows:-
At 2 fathoms - Two strips of leather.
" 3 " - Three "
" 5 " - A piece of white bunting.

Just want to say Fat Doctor - you are the one blog I have to read every day!!!

You have also lead me to other beautiful blogs.. all which gives me comfort as well as insight as Fidel is away studying medicine in the sunny south ( 50 days til we see each other again *sigh*)
